This wins means that Andy's now the 3rd player to qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals. Smile
Nestor/Mirnyi are the 2nd seeds.
V impressive.  Let's hope they all inspire each other to new heights for rest of the fortnight.

That was tonight by the way, which is why I missed the first 3 sets.
Sorry igriev but you really must get your priorities right! There were the rest of us living through the agony of Andy's first 2 sets and you were merely losing a match yourself.  Whistle

Came home thinking it would be over in time to see the start of the fifth set.  I don't know how you all managed to sit through that - I would have been a nervous wreck.  Well done to Andy and to all his fans for their tenacity!

We were nervous wrecks and I'd stopped sitting long before end of final set.  I was peering from the landing through the door, on my knees, prowling, you name it.

Most excellent, its been a good day for British tennis!  Though I got beaten 3 - 0 in a doubles cup final, while playing with a partner who threw his raquet around all match and then finally kicked it out of court and over the fence.  So it wasn't a perfect day.
Sorry you lost your match, seems you were let down by your friend.

I must admit I did find it easier losing a few sets myself, than watching Andy doing the same thing!  At least he fought back, we went down in three.

Don't feel you have to read it. It was a long match and a long report and I didn't have time to edit. Sorry.

Typical Murray rollercoaster. Andy dug deep and pulled a win out of the bag not playing anywhere near his best, all it matters
is getting the W - regardless how ugly it was.

Djokovic, Nadal and Federer all have at least 1 really tough match at slams before somehow getting it together to win it all.
I sure hope this was Andy's 'banana skin' negotiated and gives him the confidence to advance further. Now Stan is out, the
draw is opening up nicely for our boy Very Happy

When you're one of the top 10, lesser players act like a bull to a red rag and take their games to the next level to try and
make a name for themselves. It's up to the top seeds to ensure they do just enough to win.

Just glad Andy showed how much he wanted to remain in NY to fight for another day to get the chance to have his name etched
on the USO trophy.
