who said any thing about catching up with Fed, its not about how many, its about getting at least one slam which he has always said he would be happy to do, which is one more than any other British player since Fred Perryy!! i believe he will win more, plenty of players have won slams later in their carers . it does make a difference playing on the tour longer!! wasnt you who said it would need a plane crash and all the top players not to be playing  for Andy to get to number 3 and he would be lucky to hold onto his number 4 ranking? well we will see.
Correct me if I'm wrong here but I don't think I would have said it that way...sounds like that TV program that said "if Andy won a/or the current GS, it would make history because that meant the top three players were all killed on the same day..."! or something like that, which brought curtain down the "other" Andy site. "I" think he can bounce around the top four or five for many years to come...maybe even get to the BIG # 1, if he plays enough matches without winning a GS. Other players have done it before.

One male player has in the open era,
Its definitely more of a WTA syndrome.
Mostly because Serena cant be arsed.
Who would want him as Numero Uno without winning one bloody slam anyway?
I wouldn't thats for sure.

Aileen , Andy does not need to be criticised all the time, I was just trying to be optamistic and not be a pessimist. I am NOT BLINKERED as you as you seem to think but try to be positive in the way I think.
If we are all going to be critical all the time what is the point in being on the forum I am sure he gets that from the sports writers in the papers. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I am not like you and I do have faith the he will win a slam that's were we differ.

I thought the point of the forum was to say what you think. A forum that only said how wonderful that you lost Andy, never mind we still love you even tho Rafa smashed you into submission is a bit pointless don't you think? We have to get rid of our frustrations somewhere because my feet hurt when I smash them with my frying pan! Do you think Andy would be a good candidate for the Jeremy Kyle show? Andy could shout at him and give him a shrink to make him a better person!  This is all tongue in cheek for the delicate Andy supporters of course.  Whistle

I'd like to be impartial, but I can't!

Go look in your posts 12 aug your quote to me was " can you explain to everyone how he can reach  no 3 with his remaining schedule without the rest of the top 20 getting killed in a plane crash  "!! ps Andy is 1,215 behind Fed.

Every player matures in their own time, look at Mardy fish, Berdych and Soderling, especially in the case of Mardy who has found his game and got into physical shape and have had an excellent season in 2011. Berdych and Soderling - both powerful baseliners suddenly came to their own when they started believing in their own abilities to compete with the top guys.

Yes but Andy is the 'top guys' and the latter haven't achieved what Andy has  have they. That's what we are saying Andy is there but he has to better Rafa and Novak. He has the power, skill, stamina and aggression but the agression should be aimed at them not his shoes, his shirt his fist and his team. If he could do this then sparks would fly and slams would come. The problem is the type of tennis that the men's game now has which is not attractive. Slam till you drop and lets hope the opposition drops first. Andy should focus on the enemy not his faults as they all have them.

Yeah,

He was only there for a few weeks but f@?k me,
He still made nearly 10 million in prize money, ive just checked on the ATP website.
Not too bad at all (although ofcourse Andy is much richer than that).
Also I think Lendl got to number one before he won his first slam, but ofcourse once he got one the floodgates opened rather conclusively.

By the way Rafa was rather tetchy at having a dose of his own medicine from Novak so if even when you are the best in the world as far as slams go you can crack. That's what he has to do get under Rafa's skin.
