Murray out of Heineken Open

Quote

Source: Television New Zealand
The wheels came off the Andy Murray bandwagon on Wednesday as he crashed out of the Heineken Open to fifth seed Mario Ancic.
Murray blew it when he double faulted on that set point. He had plenty of chances to take that 2nd set, Ancic gave him 9 break points in 3 service games in a row. Only got himself to blame I feel.

The Scottish teenager missed a host of opportunities to reach the last eight, losing 6-3 7-6 (7-4) before a packed centre court.

A clearly disappointed Murray said he needs to do better in Melbourne.

I had a lot of chances, I didn't serve as well as I had to against him because he has such a great serve.

He is obviously a very good player and has a lot of experience.

I don't normally let leads like that slip away.

Ancic is a good player though, but Andy's right - he will have to start beating players like that to get into the top twenty. There will be other times, and yet more valuable experience for him. I think he might have liked more matches before Melbourne though.

On the tvnz page there's a link to a video highlights of the Carlsen match. I'm sorry, I have no idea how to post it. Embarassed

I enjoyed seeing the court and stands rather than just imagining them from scores!!!

Looking forward to the Aussie Open next week.

Federer lost too today/last night/ whatever time it was - to Haas - so maybe he and Andy can share a commiserating "tinny" when they get to Melbourne earlier than planned!

First of the British press out of the blocks.

Theres also a new audio on the BBC mainpage. Interesting. Andy says he feels hes being a little bit flat on the court, not shouting 'C'mon' enough, not being himself.

and an interesting article on Monfils / Murray

Press seem to be giving him a relatively easy ride, thank goodness. Long may it continue.

murray will definetly be disappointed with his performance. 9 BREAK POINTS, its says it all. Murray has to take his opportunities when they arise and unfortunatly didn't do so. He payed the price. I Hope he improves on his performances next week. I am confident that he will as as we have seen in the past he rises to the big occasions.
