Great Britain will be without Andy Murray for Friday's opening Davis Cup singles matches against Serbia & Montenegro in Glasgow.

But Murray, who has been suffering all week with a bacterial infection, has been selected alongside Greg Rusedski for Saturday's doubles.

Great Britain captain Jeremy Bates said:
(Murray's) desperate to play in front of his Scottish fans.

Rusedski and Arvind Parmar will now play in Friday's singles rubbers.

The British squad line-up is completed by James Auckland, who is yet to make his Davis Cup debut.

Not good news but not bad either. Some Murray is better than no Murray!

I kind of suspected this was going to happen way back. Interesting that Greig's in for doubles. Does that mean he's playing 3 days? Where does it put James?

I just wonder if the report that Andy is 'expected' to play on Saturday is just to keep the public's interest.  Let's face it, if it was reported that Murray was definitely taking no part - I think the crowds would severely dwindle.  Personally, I think that's why there's been all the subterfuge this week surrounding his involvement - there's no way they could have taken the chance of stating categorically that he wouldn't play just in case it ruined the event.  Think

I think the reporters are all mixed up, we've been getting different stories.  James Auckland is meant to be playing doubles because hes the highest ranked doubles player  confused
