If he wasn't mentally ready, he'd have crumbled in the decider. He's ready for this, he just needs to bring his best tennis to the table!
Actually, you could well be right...
Interesting comparisons to the Verdasco match at the AO. I know Andy was ill that day, but tonight was similar in some ways: opponent playing their best ever, see-sawing momentum and a tense final set which Andy dug out this time. Hopefully, in a similar way to last year's Gasquet match, this will have flicked a switch - he's won a tight five setter now and can have the belief to really make the most of this chance. Let's be honest, it's a massive chance to make a Wimbledon final and I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't make it. I'm confident about the Ferrero match and Hewitt/Roddick are nothing to fear.

We could also compare it to Melzer at US Open. I just feel that the occasion got to him tonight and it was only R4, and it was only against Stan, and his 1st set was shocking as a result. Stan let him back in. Fed won't!
Please no more roof! He didn't like it!

The difference is that Stan can hurt players off both wings. Federer simply cannot hurt Andy off the backhand. Andy will be more able to play his natural game.

FFS, It wasn't only against Stan! it was against a guy who has a superb all-round game and played an absolute stormer. The only disappointment was the first set, to which I agree was a big worry but some perspective please! He won when he needed to.
His attitude to a Fed match would be completely different. He wouldn’t have anywhere near as much pressure on his shoulders and WILL prevail. Tonight was his semi final.

Stan played reallly well. It was similar to Gasquet last year. Great atmosphere. It makes me feel so good when Murray wins and you know the excitement will continue.
A special mention to Lleyton Hewitt too. His fans were hilarious today.

Wow , what a match , to see such emotion from him at the end was great !!!! I think the pressure is getting to him , I hope he can deal with it and come thru, you can just see how much he wants it.

Oh what a sweater, but he got through.
I read that they are friends and practice together ,perhaps that is why they were so close.
Perhaps they know each others game to well.

Any special reasons?

I hope he has some physical and mental energy left for the QF. Thank god it's Ferrero and not Nadal this year - that #3/#4 seeding really helps.

I think they are going to do that for Murray's matches in the second week, it's just an assumption though.
They will probably interview his opponent walking into the changing rooms again and then interview the winner after. It's a great idea.

Listening to a phone-in on Radio Five at the moment - callers basically saying that he shouldn't struggle against people like Wawrinka in R4, think he might make the final but Federer would win.
I really don't know what to make of last night - hoping it works well for him and refocusses him for a final little push. Sort that serve out, though, Andy!

Some people are just ignorant, because thay havent heard of wawrinka, they expect murray to just walk through him, anybody who watches tennis every week knows how good wawrinka is.

Just added the post-match comments to the report - seems Andy really wasn't happy about the roof, wanted a bit more notice. Not sure how much more notice could have been given though... did he assume that they would reopen the roof after the Safina-Mauresmo match?
A side question - does the roof have to be closed for the floodlights to be used?
