Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

According to the Gulf News!
"The longest known singles game in the Open era of tennis went to an amazing 31 minutes. It was one of 37 deuces (80 points) between Anthony Fawcett of Rhodesia and Keith Glass of Great Britain in the first round of the Surrey, Great Britain Championships played at Surbiton, Surrey on May 26, 1975."

Snap, same time

Well done on that find. Wow, one of them represented Rhodesia, you can tell it was from a long time ago before seeing the date. Very Happy

Nice win for Andy, though he sounds like he's a bit 'rusty' - 24 minute game. blink

Are we back to quizzing his judgement again though?  Let the guy just play tennis and let's see what happens eh? Very Happy
What a good idea! You never know - he might be right!

Let's give him a chance, eh? He likes to play himself into a competition. One match is really not enough to judge him on - I think the kneejerk reactions are to the fore again.

I read on the teletext that Andy's been made the favourite to win, because of Federer pulling out.

I saw in my Tv mag, today, that the BBC won't be showing the DC tie next Friday because of Andy pulling out.  I wouldn't have minded watching the rest of the guys try and beat Lithuania.  Does anyone know what time it'll be shown on the Freeview?

As well as assesing a player compared to his highs rather than his competition this week.

Djokovic's is constantly lethargic lately including in his match yesterday, Davydenko could have lost to Serra today and Tsonga was playing like trash, the only one who looked like they'd take advantage is Cilic.

Another good point - performance in a Slam quarter or semi final will always be a million miles away from the first round of a 500 tourney. It's just not reasonable or fair to expect a player to produce the sort of form that would be required on the bigger occasions when he knows 2nd gear is enough to beat his opponent in this particular situation.
