lol  Joking apart - I'm beginning to wonder now if Andy's injury could have been partly responsible for his loss to Raonic.  Can anyone remember at which point in this match he started holding his back?  I could be wrong, but I think it was in the second set.

Meanwhile it's been reported Djokovic cancelled his press conference yesterday saying he was feeling unwell. Think

And Stakhovsky has this to say about the surface -

"you have too much blue clay on some parts of court..imagine having small dunes on court..the ball is just rolling on the ground".

Then after his win today:
"Hard day in the office...glad to be through!Court 4 is better but still not much in common with CLAY!"

It'll be interesting to hear what the Big Boys have to say after their matches.

Although it's disappointing that we won't get the chance to see Andy in action this week it could prove to be a good thing in the long run with a really demanding stretch of the season coming up in the next 3 or 4 months. Rafa has already had a bit of time off this year, Federer missed Monte Carlo and Novak even opted out of his home tournament. All of the top players will be managing their schedules carefully with the Olympics adding to what is already a hectic schedule for them. If Andy isn't a hundred per cent fit then this is the ideal tournament to skip given he hasn't a lot of ranking points to defend and the new surface seemingly being problematic. Here's hoping that he'll be fine for Rome and RG!

PS Thanks to everyone who posted their best wishes recently when I mentioned I was about to experience parenthood for the first time, I'm happy to report that my wife Karen and I now have an amazing wee baby boy, Paul Andrew Sturgeon who weighed in at a nice 6 lbs 8oz. Both baby and his heroic mum are now out of hospital and at home, I look forward to introducing Paul to the delights of following and cheering on Andy in the next few years!

 Many congratulations to you and Karen mcforev and thanks for posting picture of georgeous Paul Andrew [now is that name a coincidence???].
Hope Karen and Paul are doing well.
And thanks for the reassuring post.  It will be interesting to see how the top players manage with what sounds like a blue nightmare.
