More like a FEW reminders of his magic.  I now rarely find myself saying "OMG, how did he get that back".  Sadly, his recent play rarely excites me and I've found myself doing the crossword or bringing in the washing whilst his match is on.  I used to be totally glued to the screen, but not any more.  Bored and disappointed.  Djokovic's current form makes others look pedestrian.  Here's hoping for improvements.
Well, there is a simple remedy if you're "bored and disappointed." Stop watching Andy and support someone else.
Other sites are more complimentary about his play in the second set.
BTW Sky seems to dictate when he plays.

Well, I think he was pretty poor in the first set, tight, rusty etc but I thought he was pretty good in the second, with lots of reminders of his magic.
Bevc, u mentioned serving stats. I read somewhere in the first set they were both in the thirties. I cannot believe Nalby served better, his serving looked awful. He had far more double faults for a start.

Nalby did BBH.  Unfortunately, my link to livescores went down and I had to choose carefully when to reset the whole internet.  Just looking at the result now on the atp website and Nalby was 46% 1st set against Andy's 38% and he was 75% for the 2nd set against Andys 67%.  Quite surprising really.

Too often he mirrors his opponents, whereas he should be giving the lesser mortals a master class every time in order to maintain the highest standard required to beat the best.  Too many first serves missed, double faults and poorly judged drop shots.  Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, but at least he's got the haircut right <vbg>

He lost 5 games.

Now days to play well he needs to double bagel someone by some peoples standards.

The negativity is amzing on this site.  Andy won, what more do you folks want! If Andy was walking around thinking he played fantastic yesterday I could understand the negativity but he knows what he was like and what he still has to do.  He is getting there just give him a chance!

Thanks Bev! I do feel fairly confident that Andy will win today! I don't think anyone should read too much into this guy beating Tsonga yesterday, as it sounds as though Tsonga wasn't playing his best! Could be, he does have an 'iffy' shoulder!

Watched the match to see what Andy would face today. Frankly it was a bit boring. Tsonga was far from the Wimbey or Montreal Tsonga not so much the shoulder but his attitude was rubbish. Boggie played reasonably well with some good shots but he seems to be a bit inconsistent. Dont want to jinx it and say Andy will win. No problems if set 2 Andy plays but if its set 1 it could be tight.

Strangely though during Andys match yesterday i felt quite calm and didnt think at any point he would loose.

Sad to see nalbandian like that...a shell of his former self. No belief whatsoever. Hes finished. One of my favourite players, but I think its time for him retire.

Nole dropped his first service game to Harrison. Is he playing badly? Get real and give Andy some credit. When you haven't played for some time it takes awhile to get all the shots going. In the second set Andy was finding his range and varying his strokes, he had some brilliant passing shots, and his forehand was working. racquet cmonandy

Well at least Andy made a better start than he did in Montreal! A bit of a slow start from Andy but as the match progressed he was finding rhythm and thought he played much better in the second set. A win is a win and I am glad he had got the 1st round out the way, so onward and upwards for oor Andy.  cmon yeah
