Murray takes on legend at Road Tennis
« on: November 22, 2011, 07:07 PM »
Last week Andy Murray found himself in an old raggedy building in East London that once acted as the electricity generating station for the Shoreditch Tram system.
Adidas were responsible - they had challenged Murray to learn Road Tennis in just one hour and then take on Sylvain "Lama" Barnettone, one of the world's best players of the sport.
The video of the event was released today and you can read our behind the scenes report
here
.
Adidas say this is the start of many such videos to come from the brand, "The event marked the start of our new campaign, where we’ll be challenging some of the world’s best tennis players, around the biggest tournaments next year."
Video of the event

Murray said he got his injury after Paris. Was this fun event last week, in which case did he pick up the injury before, during or after this event, and which has led to him pulling out of the O2?

This event happened last Monday, interestingly the same day Murray injured himself.

Mark, thanks for giving us a laugh on a miserable November evening. It cheered me up.
I just love Andys smile and laughter, it's boyish and genuine.

Coincidence, or what ?????????????????????????????????? Can you imagine Andy saying he was playing Road Tennis last Monday, less than a week before the O2, and pulled a groin muscle. Embarrassing or what ?????????????? When I watched the interview yesterday and observed his body language, I had my doubts. Silly boy.

You certainly do bring up an interesting question given the timing of the injury.

Looks like a lot of trying to stay low to the ground with this Road Tennis. Imagine someone like Isner attempting to play it.

I suppose if you were going to get any injury from Road Tennis is would be back or groin

IF IF IF IF IF this is the case, then I hope Andy will have learned a very big lesson. It's good to be charitable and/or have fun, but NOT when it might jeopardise your career!!! I don't know whether to be sad or angry, but I sure am disappointed, because, like all of us, I was sooooooooooooo looking forward to seeing him in this tournament. Seeing that video has made me very suspicious, I can tell you. A bit too much of a coincidence for my liking!!! Perhaps we should ask him to take a lie detector.

He probably didn't have much say in this as one must assume it's part of his contractual obligations. And I don't think he's in London that often, is he?

Better keep tabs on the injuries of other adidas players as this campaign gets underway.

I'd like to be impartial, but I can't!
