Oh so am I! and to the rest of the week but I'm trying not to get too hyped up about it - one match at a time and all that! It's very difficult the way that everybody is hyping up his last two performances. After all, that's how you would expect him to play when there is little competition. The big boys are to come! Whistle cmon yeah

It's hard not to get a little bit carried away, though.  Definitely be an exciting week - one way or another!  nervous

Once again I was very upset when I turned on the tv coming in from work to find out that Andy Murray had won again, cant wait until this bloke loses and retires from tennis so we never have to see/hear him saying he loves English people and didnt slag of England or English people. And I bet that the English person who support him dont understand that part of the money you pay in tax is used to pay for "British"(a pharse I hate)sports people to travel the world and help pay for equipment and so on, which means that Andy Murray recieves some of you tax money even tho he is Scottish cause they country is funded by ours, so while Murray is slagging off your country he is also using a bit of your tax money to travel the world to win money for himself. How can you like that happening. Rock on the England Football Team, also I dont see the scottish football team doing anything.

Not quite, it's an article written by the journalist who actually provoked the World Cup joke while interviewing Murray. He has revealed the anti-English story was fabricated by another newspaper using his transcript out of context.

If you have so much distrust of the media, why on earth do you believe the anti-English story when the person who actually did the interview has defended Murray saying it's a load of bullsh*t?

You believe what suits your opinion of Murray - you don't like him so you choose to believe a fabrication of a story because it's the only thing that justifies your opinion of him.

Good reply and I mean that.

While what you just put made a very good pont on to be honest may be a little true please explain why then in the months/years following that interview when Murray was telling us how he loved being called British di we see him at every tennis match wearing sweat bands and a baseball cap painted with the colours of the scottish flag and now all of a sudden he never wears them now he wants the english peoples support at Wimbledon.

Dont get me wrong I have a tattoo of the St George's Cross on my arm and wear baseball caps with the Flag on but I hate being called britsih and would disagree with anyone that called me that.

He's proud to be Scottish but also proud to be British... Is it really any surprise that he is probably a little bit more proud of being Scottish than he is of being British? That's natural, you would almost certainly be the same. But what's important is you don't interpret his pride of Scotland as being anti-English or anti-British because he's never said anything to suggest that.

Yet another good point but over the last few months/years as he has been becoming increasing a better tennis player(and yes I can admit he is good) he has realised that he needs to rely on the english support at wimbledon to get him thru games against say nadal has he all of a sudden lost he passion for being scottish no he has just realised that if he dont wear the scottish flag people may support him more cause he needs and wants the support.

If you are noticing him being more pro-British than before, can you blame him after the whole anti-English controversy? He's desperate to get rid of that misconception so he'll understandably go to that extra effort to show his support for Britain rather than just Scotland.

Yes it might look a bit unnatural for a Scot to do that but it's the fabricated story that has lead to such actions, if it wasn't for that he could keep wearing his Scottish gear and the English would have no problem supporting him because they would have no reason to think he is against them.
