What a bummer. Went out to dinner and came back with moral support for the match for once only to find no match to watch. Peter Fleming certainly seemed to think it would not be helpful in terms of going into a final with Nole [assuming it is] not having played for 3 days. It's not a question of how much practice he's had but how match sharp he is and only matches can give you that. Still I'm sure Mr L will be thinking of some way to try to compensate.
They showed a clip from andy's press conference where he looked rather glum but said he'd now start practising with righties having been doing so with lefties to prepare for rafa.
Surely he must get the points as it's not his fault it's a w/o and noone can say he'd not have won had he played Rafa.
Peter F thinks the withdrawal is partly precautionary with clay season so close and knowing he can't beat someone as good as Andy with the state of his knee, which Rafa said was getting worse daily. Can't help but feel for him but do wish he'd told us earlier and we'd have gone out to the pictures!
And bbh didn't monaco beat Andy on clay?
It can't be helpful at all as I see it. Rest is good, but stale is not.
Righties and lefties, cant be easy!
It's a shame for Rafa, but in the statement he said he made a decision this morning, then would have been possible to inform about this sooner, I assume?
I'm sure Andy gets to know first of all.
