Murray through to last four at Miami
« on: March 28, 2012, 11:21 PM »
Andy Murray has made it through to the semi-finals of the Miami Masters with a 4-6 6-3 6-4 victory against Janko Tipsarevic.
The Scot, who appeared to have been suffering from illness, lost the first set after initially leading 4-2.
After receiving treatment for a stomach complaint, Murray was able to find the strength to comeback and take the match.
Murray will now meet Rafael Nadal or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-finals.

Mark is on the booze
This is the risk of being Andy's fan and watching him play. You end up being an incoherent nervous wreck.

Missed Mark's unedited version of match report AND first 2 sets of this match.
Big sigh of relief on both counts by the sound of it.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Missed the unedited version of this too, but watched the entire match, the mother of all roller-coasters which left me feeling like a washed-out rag.
Delighted though that Andy managed to find a way through in the end. Have just looked at the post-match interview on the tournament website and not once does he make a reference to feeling unwell. So typical of him. Just hope he's fully fit by Friday. Whoever he plays is going to be really tough, although I hope it's Tsonga. Match began half an hour ago and they've only managed to play 4 games!
EDIT: Looks like it's going to be Nadal. 1st set 6-2, 3-2 in 2nd having broken JWT's serve.
Oh well, off to

I'm really proud of Andy and his fighting spirit in adverse conditions, both wind related by the sound of it!
On 5Live this morning Andy said he felt sick and that it was to do he thought because he had taken on too much fluid before the match. It was very hot and humid and it is important to keep hydrated, it can be difficult to get the balance.
For me what was important was the way Andy found the way to win, bodes well for the future. he can get ready now for his match against Nadal.

Apart from that darn second serve, which time and again let Tipsy back into the match, at times I thought Andy looked brilliant. He completely had Tipsy's number and made me wonder how he's ever lost to him.
Please note too, how ineffective Tipsy's serve was
however I think the wind played a part in both their serves being "off."
Very proud of Andy
Hope he recovers in time to give Rafa a beat down

I'd like to be impartial, but I can't!

Well done Andy, didn't look like he felt well, so did well. Haven't seen any tennis for 3 weeks been away, so a lovely fix, and much. Better after hearing he went out in Indian wells.

Tonight's delayed coverage on ESPN was Rafa, again
Thankfully Andy's next match is on Friday, so my Saturday
Thing is, I might not be able to watch live as I have a coffee date with hubby and some friends
Well played Andy - you hung on in there

Post match interview. Found it on You Tube.
As Aileen said, not a mention of his stomach discomfort.
Even the Sky News Sports report are giving him a bit of air time this morning.! Miami has hardly been mentioned all week, you wouldn't know there's a tournament going on.
