Murray takes on Nalbandian in Cincy opener

Reply

Andy Murray will try to find some form before the US Open when he meets David Nalbandian in his opening match at the Western & Southern Open on Wednesday.

Nalbandian defeated Japan's Kei Nishikori to reach the second round of Cincinnati while Murray received a bye for what is the last tournament before the US Open kicks off.

The Scot is in the same half of the draw as Rafael Nadal, while Djokovic is seeded to meet Roger Federer in the semi-finals.

Really hope we see Andy win here.  With Fed and Nadal also not doing so well in Canada he needs to impose himself on the tour again before the US Open.  Needs that confidence boost here.  Would love to see him win here but no-one can beat Nole right now.  SF or final would be ideal preparation for NY....

@scotsgeek,

Don't be so sure no one can beat him.
Had it been Andy (or Roger) in that final playing Novak,
They most probably would have ended his golden run
for the 2nd time.
His performance there would have nevertheless shaken him a bit as well.

Yes totally agree with you there, and Andy was so close in Rome as well to ending that run of Novak , so anything could happen, good performance from Andy after a wobble at the start today.
