I've only watched the film once, when it first came out on video, and found it quite entertaining as a kind of fantasy adventure. The main thing I can remember was that the battle of Stirling Bridge wasn't anything like the real version. Unbelievable that some people think of it as a kind of historical documentary!

Good speech though.

I have no idea what's real or not about Braveheart... was the bit where he had his guts torn out in public real? And the shout of "Freedom" when it happened?
I believe he was half-hanged, drawn and quartered - which would have been in public. It's actually quite a bit nastier than they could possibly show on screen today.

I'm fairly certain he did scream, but probably not "Freedom"!

EDIT: From Wikipedia "Following the trial, on 23 August 1305, Wallace was taken from the hall, stripped naked and dragged through the city at the heels of a horse to the Elms at Smithfield. He was hanged, drawn and quartered — strangled by hanging but released while still alive, emasculated, eviscerated and his bowels burnt before him, beheaded, then cut into four parts. His preserved head was placed on a pike atop London Bridge. It was later joined by the heads of the brothers, John and Simon Fraser. His limbs were displayed, separately, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Stirling, and Aberdeen."

I don't think the "Freedom!" bit was true. I would highly, highly doubt it. I'm going from memory, but I'm pretty sure he was hung, drawn, and quartered, with his various parts sent to different areas of the country. I'd have to check to be sure, though.

Basically, he was hung and then cut down before he died.

Oh, I take that back. I just remembered about 'Sunniii' but that would still make you second most immature going by my objective observation.

See Mark there is nothing objective about that, it's just plain insultive. I read this site now and again when something has happened in the media and i have actually been keeping an eye on it since this afternoon. I must admit if i'm honest i was expecting clydey to identify the person posting anonamously as me because it's the kind of thing i've come to expect from some people on here.

I half expected a comment like this Mark. You wonder why I got out of my pram when we were arguing, in my opinion a moderator should be there to clean up messgae boards and if they want to, get involved in posts. MODERATORS SHOULDN'T GO AROUND CALLING PEOPLE IMMATURE AND ATTEMPT TO PROVOKE PEOPLE.

glad i left really with people like you about, i will continue to read this board now and again because most people on here make constructive points.

My observation was made based mostly on the contents of personal messages sent to me from scotlandsandy, I think it was pretty objective but neither one of us can prove that because I don't want to post up personal messages and you can't see them to make a judgement.

As a moderator, I'll express myself with the same freedoms that every member has here. When it comes to official business then I will act according to my title. I especially will not hold back when it comes to dealing with a member who has sent me a personal message unfairly insulting every member of this community.

So to summarise, I understand your concern but given the situation that had gone on privately, my comments were reasonable.

Corrrr don't you love editing!!!!! What's the matter can't get the right words out????

You backpedal and faster and you'll be backpedalling out of London.

So what was the need to bring me into this?? I left in a dignified manner and yet you still bring me into a debate about a month later.

Am disappointed that he's not playing in DC, but having watched his two matches in Dubai, it's no surprise.  He looked totally wiped out.  It was obvious there was something very far wrong with him  Frown   Just hope he can recover from whatever it is quickly....... but I can't shake off the feeling that whatever he has is not going to be easily sorted.  Whatever is ailing him he's had since the Verdasco match in Aus..... and that's not a good sign.

On a lighter note..... Miles McClagan is drop dead gorgeous in the flesh..... and Andy's gf is not as pretty as she looks on telly....... or maybe I'm just a bitch!  lol
