Andy Murray has withdrawn from the ATP Tour event in Marseille. Having reached the Australian Open final, Murray will take an extra week off to rest his body. The Scot only returned to training at the beginning of this week and still does not feel physically ready to compete. With Del Potro having also announced his withdrawal from the tournament, organisers have been dealt a major blow. Murray is still expected to compete in Dubai starting the 22nd of February.

Fair enough, glad he's taking it easy, rankings don't matter anymore to him and neither should it for us.

Yeah, it's a fair enough decision.
I bet that the tourney committee will be really annoyed, especially after Andy withdrew after winning Rotterdam last year and also the withdrawal of Del Potro.

Although i'm disappointed not to see him in action I think this is a good decision. Why push it this early on! Will look forward to dubai!

He might regret it later in the year when he has to fit another 250 in. However, I think he really has got his thinking head on this year and is really working for the big ones. Good on him - Let's just hope that its not a hidden injury that's caused this - it is a bit last minute !

I was looking forward very much to seeing him play again, so I'm a bit disappointed but I'm glad he's taking a few decisions which are likely to help him through a very busy year. Roll on Dubai.

I'm not surprised at all - good on Andy for wising up and playing the important tournaments, just like Federer. It is vital that Andy focuses on the big ones and has plenty in reserve for when it really matters. He has worked his butt off and is on the brink of reaching the highest pinnacle. Andy is astute and will have learned many valuable lessons from his AO encounter with Federer, the first one being to play only when absolutely necessary. Federer is the master in every aspect of professional tennis - his preparation is superb and for a player of his age his physical condition is mind-blowing, almost unbelievable at times. Andy's next match against Federer began the moment their last encounter finished. Andy wants that Major real bad and it looks like he's prepared to do whatever it takes to give himself the best chance.

It is a good decision to give Andy extra recovery time as well as to practise his serve.
What was really helpful was when Andy beat Cilic, his going one extra round in the GS earned him 480 points (1200 - 720) which more or less equal the two "250" series tournament wins that Cilic sweated to earn.

It seems that he learns from a very young age to take care of his body and also his mental state. There is absolutelly no point to go overboard when you have a ten year career in front of you. Nadal found out the hard way, after pounding his body week in week out for 5 years.
