Rusedski defeat ends GB challenge

Reply

Great Britain slumped to a Davis Cup defeat against Serbia & Montenegro when Greg Rusedski lost 3-6 6-4 3-6 6-7 to 18-year-old Novak Djokovic on Sunday.

With the tie poised at 2-1 in the visitors' favour, Rusedski went into the match knowing a win was vital.

But the first set slipped away following three successive Rusedksi double faults in game eight.

And despite an impressive Rusedski effort in set two, Djokovic's passing ability proved the difference.

The defeat leaves Great Britain facing a Euro-Africa Zone relegation play-off against Israel in July.

It was a very enjoyable match and Greg really did try so hard and never gave up, he is clearly very passionate about DC.

It'd s shame we lost, but with Andy not being able to play on Friday I guess it was kind of expected.

At least I should be able to go and watch the play-off when it's on!

Well I heard that we'd end up away from home from a friend but I just read somewhere that it was at home and would therefore probably be played on grass! Centre court at wimbledon do we think?

That would be really cool! But someone said it could be played at Brighton - or some other place that i can't remember the name of...! I guess we'll just have to wait and see, they'd have to announce it soon surely, seeing as it's meant to be played pretty soon....

....i'd really, really love it to be somewhere around where i live - i've never been to live tennis, and i can't go to wibledon yet again this year! So i'd love it, i'm on holiday then as well.... and it's near my birthday, so it would be a great birthday present!  crossfingers

Hmm, I wonder where it's going to be. If it's somewhere resonably easy to get there I may need to venture south of the border for a couple of days!
