Well done, Braveheart!  Terrific tactics, brain and brawn, Andy producing the gasp shots once more.  I watched the match on Eurosport and Frew McMillan was drooling at Andy's play, calling him a genius and saying that Andy is one of the best volleyers in the game.  He marvelled at his passing shots and his running ground strokes and speed about court.  All this from a guy who at best is economic with his praise.  Andy sure delivered and he really is the connoisseur's dream player.  Fred Stolle was full of admiration in his commentary of the Hopman Cup, saying Andy is his favourite player to watch.  Surely the quarter-final between Andy and Rafa is the dream ticket - worthy of the Final.  Rafa is the reigning champion and is no 2 seed, but once again Andy is the narrow favourite with the bookies to win.  OK, Rafa has not been his usual self in the last part of 2009 but this is a major and he is bound to turn it on.  There is, once again, pressure on Andy as he's going for his first major and he is playing superbly but the great thing is it's all win for him.  He has already achieved his best AO success and as no 5 seed shouldn't really be expected to win.  This one is 50-50 but there is a real sense of something extra special about this match.

Either way, what a fantastically exciting spectacle it will be and our Andy is right there in the global spotlight where he belongs.  He is THE most charismatic player in the world and there is something amazing about his matches, particularly one as massive as this.  Can't wait.  BBC announced this morning that they will have live coverage on BBC2 from 8.30 tomorrow morning with Sue Barker and Tim Henman in the studio, live Radio 5 coverage, and also live computer streaming for those at work.  Eurosport are also covering it and I can recommend Frew McMillan's commentary as being so much more in tune and concise than the somewhat lagubrious and droning John Lloyd and Chris Bailey on BBC.

Play your best, Andy, because if you do you will win.

No, I just think it's wrong. Roddick, Djokovic, Federer all more charismatic than Andy.

Roddick?    roflmao

Djokovic?   roflmao

Federer?    roflmao roflmao roflmao

Given the choice, Andy Murray would be the player I would most like to watch, in fact this morning I didn't bother with the Federer-Hewitt so-called match as I had no desire whatsoever to watch as it was a poor contest.  Had Andy been playing Lleyton, I would definitely have watched as I find his play fascinating and NEVER predictable, it doesn't matter to me who Andy is playing, I want to watch.  This to me is my barometer of charisma.  The watchability factor wins every time.  Djokovic, too many bounces, Roddick, a bag of nerves.  Federer cocky and supercilious, no humility, very unattractive traits.  At least we've never seen Andy break down and cry like a girl.   Whistle

And why shouldn't he/she quote Frew McMillan and then go on to recommend his commentary?  Another MW member with a problem, yes?  Come on, what exactly do you have against poor old Frew?  Hardly promoting him, just saying that IMO he is the superior commentator.

Why am I feeling like I'm under the cosh here?  Someone put me straight, I'm here appreciating Andy and sharing my thoughts like you are.

Agree, Murray is at the bottom of the pile when it comes to being charismatic.

Yes I know he winds people up, which is precisely why I reported his appreciative (and entirely appropriate) comments about Andy's brilliant play.  I can understand Frew winding some of you up, although not on this occasion.

I am not offended by your feistiness in the least but I stand by my opinion of Andy's charisma and Frew's comments on his match with Isner.  Any resentment I feel comes from my disappointment at what appear to beon putdown comments regarding Andy.  There is a tangible undercurrent of sneering criticism of Andy here compared to some other players and it does leave a bad taste when comments are ridiculed and dismissed.

I know that there is an anti-sycophant philosophy on this forum but I do feel that we should be able to state facts and express opinions without our heartfelt appreciation of Andy being ridiculed and sneered at, in this case within a matter of minutes.  I had hardly had a chance to read back what I had put in my post before I was confronted with a very caustic putdown of Andy and my opinion of him.  I can even understand some of the criticism when Andy isn't playing well but right now he is on fire.  So I really don't get it.

I think the criticism of your view on Andy's charisma was due to the misinterpretation of the term. In the conventional sense, Andy does not have the charisma of Federer, Djokovic, et al. He has a charisma of his own which I actually feel is more human and natural than the others, but it won't appeal to everyone. Who wants to be a Fedtard anyway? lol

Honestly feel Andy will beat Nadal as Andy is on form where as Rafa has slightly regressed recently and Andy has always given Rafa a good game when both were firing on all guns........so it follows Andy is the man.......trust me.

Murray even admits he is very boring - he is fiery on court, but not charismatic.
