Very Happy I reckon any of us on MW could do a better job to be fair

I reckon we should all volunteer to do it. We couldn't be worse than the USTA.

Careful, they might offer you a job if you keep coming out with good ideas like that!

It's a shame that we can't just take the best parts of all the slams and have them merge into one, I would take the tournament starting on Sunday like the French, i would get rid of Wimbledon's nonsense middle Sunday rule, i would take Australia's weather, and i would keep the USO's night matches Very Happy

We would have a perfect event then haha

I don't want to labour the point but a year ago tonight we watched Andy thrash Dodig in the second round. Now, a year on, we're waiting for the defending champion to strike the first ball in anger. To my mind that shows how crazy the USO's organisation is.

Thank you Aileen.  Just switched on TV to watch Del Porto  - rain - so what do they broadcast- a replay of he Federer match.
At least all the Fed fans had something to smile about. Lucky beggars. The same can't be said for us Andy fans,as were still waiting for Andy's first round match. If Andy had played his first round match we'd have been able to watch that on replay.

Yes you're right.  It was the tornado warning that finally settled the matter, but Djokovic was getting roasted by Ferrer because he just couldn't handle the wind, so was very keen to have the match abandoned.

By the way, if you want to quote somebody's post, just click on the box marked QUOTE, and the quote with the poster's name above it will come up.  Directly underneath the quote you'll see , so you should start typing your response immediately after it.  You don't need to leave a gap between the ] and the first word you type.

Well, well, well, it might all be fate after all Smile.

I'm not superstitious about all this 7s business really. I think it's good fun more than anything. I must admit though, I am starting to wonder just lately!

Aileen, if my memory serves me correctly, I think Novak was upset that he was even expected to start playing that semi-final match because of the weather conditions.  He complained continually to the umpire.  As bad as the conditions were the winds were no near as bad as the conditions in the previous match ie Andy's semi when chairs were flying on to the court - a fact that the umpire brought to Novak's attention.  I think eventually the stadium had to be cleared because a tornado watch or warning was called. (sorry I haven't included your quote - still having a problem working out the logistics of quoting properly.)

It doesn't matter that Andy wouldn't be the 7th.....What matters is the number has shown it's face again at all! The magic is 'in the number'!  yes

Indeed - he'd be joining the 7!
