Added word 'allegedly' as I think we only have Andy's word on this.

Murray jestingly responds to an English reporter who allegedly asks if he'd be supporting Scotland in the World Cup (2006) knowing that Scotland had not qualified for the tournament.

Also, if possible, should we (ie. you) date these quotes to better put them in context?

Yeah I guess so... I put (2006) in brackets for the World Cup as that was important to define but sure we should try and find out the dates of these.

The comment on Brad was at a press conference at the AO, 10/01/07.
The "like women" comment was a year before, on the day of the Carlsen match at Aukland, which I make 09/01/06.
His reaction to the reaction of that was after losing to Ancic on the 11/01/06.
The Scots/fierce pride comment was published on 16/03/06, but since the interview was interrupted by the Indian Wells Rochus/Federer game it must have been a couple of days earlier.
The model ballgirls comment was published on 19/10/06.
The "anyone but England" comment is your area of specialisation.
And I couldn't track down the DC selection response.

Can we change the title of this thread to 'Quotations'. It's my one pedantic thing and it really irritates me.

The quotes page on MW will always be titled "Quotes" because that is what everyone searches for in Google. So might as well keep it the same here?

Comparing her pedantic side to you is most certainly an insult. Very Happy

Just to fly my pedant colours briefly, "quote" has been perfectly acceptable as an informal variant of "quotation" for generations ...

OED and Websters both support it.

Websters give the earliest printed use in that sense as 1888.
Since I'm not at home, I can't give you OED's earliest citation, but I'm pretty sure it'll pre-date anyone posting on this board.

lmao

Informal being the important word. Publication on the front page of a website is not informal.
