Murray Andy - News Icon
The draw for this year's Wimbledon has been made, pitting Andy Murray against American world No. 76 Robert Kendrick in the first round and initially placing him in the same half as World No. 1 Rafael Nadal. However, with Nadal's withdrawal, Murray is seeded to face Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro in the semi-finals.

Murray's probable route to the title is as follows:

R1 > Robert Kendrick
R2 > Gulbis
R3 > Dent/Troicki
R4 > Wawrinka/Safin
QF > Simon/Gonzalez
SF > Del Potro
F > Roger Federer

Murray has played 29-year-old Kendrick three times, winning every encounter. The last meeting was at Miami in 2007, while Murray came out on top at the 2006 US Open as well. Their only grass encounter, at Newport in 2006, ended 6-0 6-0 to the Scot.

Pretty much a dream draw for Murray when you consider Nadal might pull out or will be struggling...

You have to expect he'll get to the semis now and finally we can watch a British person in the semis and genuinely believe he can get further.

I don't want to hear any of that optimistic talk around here. Are you crazy?

Gonzo stands out because of what happened at the French, but there's no real reason to be afraid. Andy can handle him on grass...

Thanks Joe - still no sign of R2 and R3 potential opponents then?

The people running the draw are obviously paid by the hour!!

Gulbis and Dent are potential banana skins if they play well.

Can't see Dent making any impact, but Gulbis, due to the nature of his play, could either bomb out in the first round or trouble Andy in R2.

Anyone else think it's more likely to be a Murray - Blake QF?

Blake always disappoints on grass. That would be ideal, though.

Hard to say at this stage but on an overall basis, that draw has ended up just about as good as it possibly could have for Andy.

By the way, Rafa plays Wawrinka at 2.30 this afternoon in an exhibition match in Hurlington and will give a press conference afterwards to clarify whether or not he will play next week.  Based on his loss to Hewitt yesterday and his determination not to play unless 100% fit, it will be interesting to see what happens...

If Rafa lost to Hewitt, then I think even if he plays, he won't make the SFs. (Yes, I know it's an exhibition, but still)
