Amy why not get a flat in Glasgow?  I pay £350 per month in the poshest area! lmao  We're students so we don't pay council tax (you will have to pay that anywhere) but still gas/water bills and it's not so bad! There's loads of young people around cos there are three massive Unis, ridiculously GOOD cheap nights out, cheap eating out... and the guys are nice too! Smile Also high turnover, you could get a bar job easy to see you through and you don't need a car! Megabus home, train in town!

I'm not so good with bar work, if I was to get work it would be in finance.  And I've never been Glasgow, I always picture it as a dark, dingy, scuffy place Think

I don't think you can make assumptions like that for any city in the world.  Having seriously considered and explored both Manchester and Glasgow for Uni, I found that they are like twins, both developing cities. A lot of it isn't nice (not that I've chosen to go there in the last two years I've lived there) but the West End is very pretty, vibrant and friendly and you couldn't ask for a better night out in the centre.  I actually prefer the area I live in Glasgow to where I live in London and I live in a nice area of London...

You may picture it as that, but Glasgow is a brilliant place to live in as a young person. Every city has its rough parts (even Edinburgh, Leith is a shithole) but you're not going to go off exploring these parts, are you? You'll be going round the city centre and the West End maybe, both are vibrant places with great shops, loads of pubs and bars and clubs. Glasgow and Newcastle are the best places to be a student in the UK.

Hazel and I suggested Perth because it's the only decent sized town in the area you specified. There's nothing else, seriously. Around 45% of Scotland's population live in the Edinburgh and Greater Glasgow area. And as for being closer to someone you know, well fair enough, but won't you be looking to meet new folk anyway?

And if you want a job in finance, well Glasgow offers the most jobs in that sector. It's the financial capital of Scotland.

Well its nice your saying its good for students but I'm not that, I'm an auld woman looking for a career and a life.   And I didn't want to be on the doorstep of someone I know, just close enough.  If I'm moving away I wouldn't want to be completely stranded.

Besides, it'll probs never happen anyway.  I'll just end up looking for work closer to home since I'll be driving soon.

Well, that's what I'm saying, you're looking for a career. Very few careers blossoming in Fife, that's for sure. 80% of the jobs in your line of work are in the big two cities.

So what are your priorities right now? Job first, presumably?

Right, re-vamping my CV with a quick summary profile at the top and I want to describe myself in five short words - of which I can't think of any!  Can people give me ideas and I can pick out the ones that suit me best.  I'd appreciate it greatly!!!!!

Also good to think of what to say if they ask you your worst quality - saying you're a perfectionist/can't let something go until it's done properly is good if you frame it right x
