Incorrect. There is no yardage goal like in American Football apart from having 6 tackles/phases with which to score, then you lose the ball.

Aren't there markings on the pitch every 10 yards, and a little graphic comes up with how far they got after each phase?

There are markings every 10 metres and a '40-20' is related to this. A graphic telling you how much ground they gained may come up, depending on what coverage it is, but it doesn't mean anything in terms of the rules of the game. It's just an interesting statistic. You have 6 tackles/phases to score and if you don't score the other team gets the ball.

Thought someone might have an idea but alas not.

In rugby league, when you kick the ball out, the other team gets the ball from where the ball goes out, or from back where it was kicked if it was out on the full. That is, you don't want to kick the ball out on the full. Kicking is a common play on the last tackle, especially if you are still in your own half since you would rather hand the ball back down their end.

A '40-20' is when you kick the ball from within 40 metres of your try line (ie, from behind the 40m marking in your half) and it goes out within 20 metres of the opposition try line (ie, it goes out behind the 20m marking in their half). It is special because if you do this, your team gets the ball back from where it goes out, not the other team. So it would be an amazing play on the last tackle - struggling in your own half then suddenly you have 6 more phases starting withing 20 metres of the try line! I don't think it should be incredibly hard to do but it must be because they don't happen very often.

OK another cricket question then.

Obviously, Don Bradman has the highest test batting average of an incredible 99.94. But which current player has the 2nd highest test batting average?
Note: Must have played at least 20 innings (ie, someone who has played 1 test and scored a century doesn't count)

Correct. Michael Hussey has the 2nd highest average at 64.04.

On the same theme, who has the highest ODI batting average?
The top one so could be retired or current and again, minimum 20 innings.

Indeed it is also Hussey, at 57.13. Awesome batsman.

My guess would have been Michael Bevan but he is 2nd at 53.59. Kevin Pietersen is 3rd at 48.36.

Had a sports quiz at school today, one of the questions was what sport do you get one point for a behind.  I was the only one who got it right, thanks to reading this thread lol
