rather than transferring their skills into another area.
Sorry, not trying to argue but I'm having a dumb moment, what exactly do you mean by that?

Well, for example, my degree is in history. Doing a history degree (supposedly) gives me good skills of analysis, research, self-motivation, critical assessment and argument. I can transfer these skills to another sector - such as law, where they're also important. The subject matter is different (mostly) but the skills are the same.

(Obviously this is just the theory - and I'm not saying I actually have those skills)

I understand now and yes I see that as being possible but also would think that transferring your skills and looking for a job based on that one degree alone would leave you struggling, at least with your situation you are studying/training law as well with the history degree as booster in the areas you mentioned above.

So I see that as a last resort before teaching with the likelihood of some sort of further study and training being required before realistically being suitable for a decent job that isn't directly linked to your degree.

But I could have gone into management consultancy, banking (shudder), human resources, management all with no extra training, as well as accountancy, curatorship etc. with extra training.

But anyway, yes, glad that clarified what I meant a little Smile

Although on the point of having to get extra qualifications - you have to do that if you're teaching as well...

Alllso, I got the law job on the basis of my history degree alone.

Ah yes, I understand there are some jobs out there that don't require a specific degree, just having a degree regardless of what it is would be enough.

Have just spent 2 hours tidying my room...still not quite finished. That's without doing the washing up, doing food shopping, hoovering...gargh. I'm so going to spend this afternoon napping...

ETA: have now done 2 lots of washing, the washing up, and my food shopping. Waiting to do my third wash (i have a lot of clothes it seems) because I've run out of space! Planning on napping this afternoon, then going for a run and making some brownies...

I went to meet a friend at work how had packed up all my bits and I saw a couple of work mates who gave me cuddles.  There was two who packed up my desk and one said they both got upset doing it, kinda glad it wasn't me doing it because I'd have been worse!  I said I'd pop in after my holiday to show off my freckles.  Plus I got to get my ex boss to sign this credit card insurance thing.

Awww Amy that sounds a bit rubbish hug. Try to forget all about it on holiday and have an amazing time. There's nothing you can do to change the situation while you're away, so try to put it on a mental back-burner and work on upping your freckle count (though I imagine that won't be hard!!!!!!1)
