A fun new discussion/game. What would you find beneficial and not so beneficial if you were ranked in the Top 20 (or Top 10) of the ATP Tour or WTA Tour? Also where do you think your first Grand Slam success would most likely come?

Me:

Benefits:

Less pressure at a Slam, but still able to go far.

Earn more money from sponsors etc.

Get the occasional tournament win as the first seed.

Not so beneficial:

On the odd occasion, pressure could arise.

Could have the whole country's expectations on my shoulders.

First Grand Slam victory:

Australian Open or Roland Garros.[/list]

Even though I hate it, my 1st Slam would be RG because I was so good on clay as a teenager - I was the David Ferrer of North East England schools and won matches by making fewer mistakes than my opponents.  Unfortunately this tactic didn't transfer into my adulthood!

The mind doubts, but the heart never does.

I think you've cornered a fraction of the MW market, Connor.  If I could run the length of myself, I'd be chuffed.  We're not all sixteen!  Very Happy

Ah but it's all hypothetical. In our fantasy tennis world what could we do? The benefits would be getting into the best tournaments and so visiting amazing places. (the top tier events have pretty good sponsor perks too), good sponsorship, steady income, coaching team, steady income, chance to win events. My slam win would not be the french - I'm a wee titch so  I'd never reach those high bouncing balls on clay, I do laugh when commentators describe all the shoulder high shots - shoulder high on 6 footers! I'd need to bring ladders on court! . Probably Wimbledon or the US open. Drawbacks (not that tthey compare to drawbacks in the real world)would be national expectation and the embarasing wallopings I'd get from Williams and Sharapova.

Great thread Gangsta,  clap hope you are not slacking on exam studies! naughty

I think my game will be defensive. Maybe my first slam will be the AO or USO. I will suck in the clay season. I would hate doing interviews but would keep my smile intact. And I will try my best to stalk Andy as much as possible since I'll be i the tennis circuit. w00t
