2) the RTR staff found it hard to decide.

And it was such a hard decision that the results of the poll in which no got twice the number of votes yes did have been ignored. no
What was the purpose of the poll if such conclusive results have no bearing on your decision?

So basically two thirds of members (including staff voters btw) views are irrelevant and eleven pages of argument where Neil failed to convince were a complete waste of time. Should have kept this completely between the RTR staff in the first place. Mark says on page ten that if 90% dont want it...it WONT happen, but if the vote is 50% then RTR staff will decide. Seems like an arbitrary decision then.
Personally I think it's fine but you've set a precedent here that says to members....Thanks for your views but basically we'll do as we please (if it keeps Neil quiet) :mildly disgruntled:

I agree with Gogsy.

I'm curious to see how the rule will work out, but I predict chaos. I also find it annoying that the poll was ignored.

Shall I create a thread for an entirely new RTR staff to save the old one even more time? Wink

Quoted for truth. The people have spoken and been ignored. Might make some of us consider whether it's even worth voting next time there's a poll on something.

Why don't you ask Neil, he created the poll?

The players were never meant to decide on this because it potentially affects the organisers much more than the players. Therefore, it was fair to let the organisers to decide and that was the way it was always going to be regardless of what user polls were posted up on the forum.

Should have kept this completely between the RTR staff in the first place.
It was - am I meant to take responsibility for what Neil has posted? It's his right to post up a poll but none of us endorsed it.

I also find it annoying that the poll was ignored.
See above.

Might make some of us consider whether it's even worth voting next time there's a poll on something.
See above.

Then why did you post something like "Please note: The results of this poll will not be taken into account when the decision is made. This decision will be made by the organisers only and any opinions posted in this thread are merely for debate."
Why instead did you post that utter boll**ks about "if 90% vote no, it won't happen and if 50% vote yes then we will decide"? Surely that statement gave us the impression that our opinion on the issue mattered didn't it?

It does... the organisers are less likely to go ahead with it if they think everyone is against it but it was Neil's poll so I don't care.

The organisers created the game and if they come to me and say they are struggling because of exams then it's my responsibility to make it easier for them. And I wasn't going to recruit new organisers because I don't think that's the best way to solve it.

I really don't understand why you guys are so angry... this doesn't affect the game for you in the slightest, it's actually a restriction on your freedom of speech that has now been lifted.

This will now make things a little easier for the organisers and I care for their well being much more than the fact that some of you have to read an extra post by Neil or Yamor every so often. Please get some perspective on this because now you know the facts, it's slightly selfish getting angry about it all.

I'm all for improving things and releasing pressure on the organisers. I'm not angry about this change in particular. It's more the fact that a poll with such conclusive results has been ignored and we have now been told it never mattered what we voted for anyway as the poll was never going to decide anything. This despite you yourself giving us the impression that our votes were going to be important.

But Yamor doesn't have trusted status.

Sorry if i mislead you but the poll was always unofficial and hopefully you understand why this was never going to be decided on a public vote.

Actually, credit to Neil for leading such a successful campaign which we all got suckered into  doh .....I do admit that Mark was put in an invidious position and should have stated early on that the poll meant nothing. As I said before, if at the end of the day, if it makes RTR run smoother, it can only be a good thing. As long as Neil doesn't post any of his 'what if' scoreboards LOL Wink

Don't really understand why it's something we mere public couldn't have had a say on, but it's done now. In future polls on forum issues, please let us know whether it's worth our time choosing an option.
As for this 'trusted status' how about a clearer indication of whether you actually are 'trusted'? Perhaps instead of top seed etc, make it say "Trusted Member" for whoever has this status. Personally before this poll I'd not even heard of it.
