RTR AO 2013 - Day 8
« on: January 20, 2013, 10:36 AM »
Since it's been discussed on other threads- if a player retires during a match then no points are given no matter the score. Keep that in mind when making your predictions and don't moan if you bank Andy and Simon retires...you have been warned
Chardy v Seppi
Simon v Murray
Tsonga v Gasquet
Raonic v Federer
Deadline midnight GMT, 11am Melbourne time. Please remember your banker.

Hmm this is a tough one have to think about it. Might still be worth banking Murray since the other match sets are unpredictable.

Hmm thinking about banking Murray, but if he goes 2 sets up and 4-0, Simon could be forgiven for throwing in the towel. Perhaps not !

I've decided banking andy is too risky, I think if Andy even goes 2 sets up Simon will retire.

If it was that close at such a gap then I'll consider awarding the points, but I'll judge it on the match if it comes to that. But if it's 3rd set and say on serve, then you don't know if a player would have changed it around if they'd been able to play on.
If no one picks Simon to win and he then retires then the points may be awarded. Normally though the rule for this makes it fair as there are predictions on both players.

I don't think a judgement call like that should be made to award points. I don't like the rule as I said before but if it's there it should be used properly. Like MuzzaFan said something like that would add a bit of spice to it, that's the only upside of the rule.

Well that's why I didn't want the rule there at all, so it's fair on people.

But then it's not fair if someone if predicted to win in 3 and then gets injured and his opponent goes through
That's why its there.

That is fair, a tennis player loses the match if they get injured. You should need to take into account how injury prone players are before picking them.
