at the same time as Fed announces his retirement!

I have Federer v Nadal on Sunday so should I think of it as a first step should Nadal thrash him?

I like the sentiment. RF is in about his correct ranking place now so now we all need to wait to see what Andy can do in 2014?  I like your confidence. Winning Australia would have been good but a little too soon!? He probably will need two slam wins so perhaps Wimbledon and US Open? If all goes well..............
Can't see Andy winning Oz but hope he plays.  He's going to need as much match practice as possible, not just to shake off match rustiness but to fully test out his back physically and possibly, on a psychological level, because it's been such a long-standing problem, to have trust in it.

Rafa leads 7-6 on hard courts H2H with 4 straight set victories all in 3 set matches. That means little probably but I just feel that Nadal looks in the mood to win this year. Everything looks easy to him and everything is possible! Mackem was keen to see Federer's retirement and it would need major setbacks to achieve his wish. A bad defeat might be a first step.
