Penalty shoot-out now.  I hate these!

And Messi scores first ...

3-1 to Argentina now

3-2

And finally Argentina do it.

YES! Argentina vs Germany final on Sunday. What a cracking showdown. Especially after their quarter in 2010 where Germany decimated them. The stripes will be looking for revenge.

Pleased the Dutch lost in the end but what a dire game. Couldn't have faced all the talk about Van Gaal being a "tactical genius" and this being a "tactical masterclass" if they had won. He played 6 at the back and hoped for a dive or piece of magic from Robben. Was never going to be enough. United-Chelsea games are going to be fun if this is the brand of football he brings!

I have Argentina in the work sweepstake so it's me against the CEO for the final. Hard to see Germany losing though.

Going to be a fascinating final though. Germany having come so close for so many tournaments and Messi with the only thing in the game still missing from his career.

Its quite unbelievable just how unreliable Messi has been this World Cup. Strikes me as a bit of a Rooney-esque guy, brings it in the league games, but never in the main event.
I don't think he's fully fit, but even so, he's absolutely carried Argentina this event. Problem is, he has three men on him at all times trying to stifle him, and as Argentina have almost no-one else that can cause problems (Di Maria was very hit and miss when he was fit), teams can get away with doing that.

Despite that he's still managed to be man of the match more times than anyone else this tournament. Says a lot. Winner v Bosnia. Winner v Iran. Brace v Nigeria. Single-handedly created winner for the Swiss. Created winner v Belgium.
