Well, Glasgow have won the race...
I think it really is looking to be a good decade from 2010-2020, like Gordon Brown said, with the olympics in London, and also maybe the rugby world cup and the football world cup...

Yay! Go Glasgow. That'll be a good thing to go and see certainly.

I think this is great, I was worried that it might become political and be awarded to an African nation for the first time rather than be based on the respective bids merits.

woop woop! That was what the Nigerian's were saying was their main focus. The political side.
Anyway, fantastic news, I'm sure this topic will die in a couple of weeks though..... Maybe it was best just to put it in the News thread

This one was here first so it stays. Since when did it matter how quickly a thread died? Some threads only ever get a handful of replies.
The other thing I like about this is how nice the Scottish politicians are being to each other over the whole thing. The SNP are giving Labour and Jack McConnell all the credit.

Nice one. Like Yamor says, should be a really good decade in terms of sport in the UK.
It's a long way off, but all going well I hope to be there for some of the Olympics. Have always regretted not going to Sydney in 2000 even for a weekend.
