Of course you'll still be posting on here in four years. But by then it'll be can Andy win his 3rd consecutive Wimbledon and will he beat Federer's records in this that and the next thing.

Federer will set records that will never be beaten... he will be the only person ever to win 7 consecutive Wimbledon titles (or indeed 7 Wimbledons at all).

I don't know about 7, but he looks certain to win the one this year. I really hopes he makes the GS this year (sorry Cate), he deserves it. Rafa can have the RG back the year after  Whistle

I can't see Federer not breaking that record. There's no-one here to stop him at the moment and he'll always be the best until he retires.

Wasn't consecutive though?

No... Sampras won 1993, 94, 95... Richard Krajicek won in 1996... and then Sampras won the next 4...

Yes I read that part. Don't worry I wasn't trying to make you look stupid. I was just unsure as to whether this part:

Federer will set records that will never be beaten... he will be the only person ever to win 7 consecutive Wimbledon titles (or indeed 7 Wimbledons at all).

was also correct. Hence the question mark.

8th December 2007

Here are William Hill's favourites

Lewis Hamilton ( Motor Racing )   1/3
Ricky Hatton ( Boxing )   7/2
Joe Calzaghe ( Boxing )   5/1
Paula Radcliffe ( Athletics )   16/1
Tim Henman ( Tennis )   33/1
Justin Rose ( Golf )   33/1
Jonny Wilkinson ( Rugby Union )   50/1
Frankie Dettori ( Horse Racing )   50/1
Christine Ohuruogu ( Athletics )   66/1
James Mc Fadden ( Football )   80/1
James Toseland ( Motor Cycling )   100/1
Amir Khan ( Boxing )   100/1

I reckon Hamilton has is but I think I hope Jamie Murray gets recognised for his Wimbledon Mixed Doubles title.

It's ridiculous. Hamilton choked at the final hurdle. Ricky Hatton for me only becomes that high up if he beats Mayweather. Calzaghe gets my vote right at this moment unless Hatton wins, in which case he gets my vote.

I don't think its fair to say that about Hamilton. You have to remember that it was his first year in the sport. Just imagine he hadn't been leading the championship throughout the season - in that case, even you'd probably agree he'd deserve the prize for finishing second.

Also, i think the prize does not only reflect achievement, but also the wider aspects of impact, recognition out of his/her sport etc. for any sportsman/woman. I think Hamilton wins that hands-down.

Hatton fight's 16 hours before the show so might be too late even if he does win the fight . He gets my vote anyway.

EDIT. Just realised the public vote on the night doh
