Wales and Northern IReland did not qualify because it is MUCH harder to qualify in europe then North America.

We dont know about that. I would love to see a match between Ireland and the USA. I dont care about NI. I do like wales.

i reckon with current teams the US would lose to scotland but beat ireland and wales and NI.

Ireland would beat the USA. Ireland are better than most thing. They have been in the top 4 of the world

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ireland_national_football_team  - Contains the current squad. Good defensive set up but lacking strike force other than robbie keane.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_states_national_football_team - contains the US 2006 World cup squad. 

Admiteddly the Us isnt alot better. On reflection and looking at the squads, it's likely Ireland would earn a draw on nick the win with pressure on the weak US defence. Although Tim Howard is a fantastic keeper.



Aside from all that, I really hope as many of the home nations qualify as possible for euro 2008! Can't wait! Would be great to get a home nation tie as well! Come on SCOTLAND!

What really sucks is that our squad can't get any good practice... I definitely think the national association needs to arrange more international friendlies in the knowledge that yes, we would get our arses handed to us, but it's much better practice than freaking Saint Lucia and Jamaica...
