No wickets and no runs for the match for Johnson. Looked absolutely woeful, as he did in England last year. Having said that he'll no doubt rip through us in Adelaide now!
Seems like he'll probably be dropped for Bollinger.

2nd Test - Adelaide - Day 1 Johnson and Hilfenhaus both dropped by Australia. Bollinger and Harris in. England unchanged. Not that I got to see any of the match, but I did notice the score after 3 overs, with Australia winning the toss and electing to bat 1st - 2 runs for 3 wickets.  Aussies all out for 245 - England need not to do the same! |

2nd test - Adelaide - Day 2 Cracking day of cricket, though, thankfully, I missed Strauss's dismissal. This is what the beeb had to say:- Alastair Cook hit an unbeaten 136 as England built a 72-run lead on day two of the second Test against Australia. After his 235 not out in the first Test, Cook took his series aggregate to 438 with a chanceless knock as England reached 317-2 at the close. The tourists made a bad start to the day when Andrew Strauss was bowled by Doug Bollinger playing no stroke. But Jonathan Trott (78) and Kevin Pietersen (85 not out) helped Cook put them in a commanding position. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/9256870.stmIt was blistering hot yesterday - temps are forecast to be lower today with possible thunderstorms looming. |

Absolutely amazing. As someone who first got interested in cricket as a kid in the mid 90s, there was a time when I never thought I'd get to see us win the Ashes. Always been up there on a pedestal with the World Cup and Champions League in that it was something I hope I get to celebrate once in my lifetime.
Been lucky enough to see it twice now and I guess it was probably being a bit unreasonable thinking it would never come anyway. Unlike the World Cup and CL, there's only 2 teams and although 1 of them dominated it for an unusually long period of time through my entire childhood and teenage years, of course eventually we'd have a period where we win it a couple times, as will they again.
However, never in my wildest dreams could I have conceived England beating them by an innings. In Australia.
This one was the definition of absolute thrashing, right up there with some of the obliterations they've handed us over the last 20 years or so. Right from ball 4 with the runout there was only ever 1 team in it and Australia never once threatened to compete. Perhaps when Strauss was out was the only glimmer they had.
Extremely different side from the one that used to have all those greats. You could see batsmen ******** themselves when Warne and McGrath etc had the ball and before a ball was bowled you always already knew Atherton was out to McGrath, Bell was out to Warne etc. I'm not sure I'd be scared facing any of that current lot.
Huge blow losing Broad, but they've also lost one of their most reliable and senior players in Katich. And there will also surely be another couple of changes for them too. They've desparately got to find some wickets. Just 16 out of 30 in 3 innings and we're 1137-6 from the last 2 innings.
