Yes, all your points are very logical and it happens in other sports - just not football. Thats just the way it is, and its the way it always has been. But asking people to sacrifice their home teams to support another one (which, as far as I can see, would be entirely English) just wouldn't work. Its not about the practicalities, its about the mentalities.

But if they could somehow pull it together for the Olympics, then yes, it would be nice.

or if scotland and wales had their own olympic associations they could technically play the olympics regardless of whether or not they are an independent state.

I'm not against us fielding a GB team for the Olympics - its a fantastic idea....or in fact for most sports. But it just doesn't work that way with football.

I know you guys are going to really really oppose me but I feel it would be best if the full of Britain would have an unified team in all sports. Including Rugby and Football. I know you people scowl at this idea, but would it not be better if we set aside our sporting differences and fielded a single team?

Hats off to the way E&W responded!! they might have fallen back for some time later today but still restricting India to 322/9 in Nagpur is an achievement. This is the reason I support E&W, keep it up men.
The big reason for the good performance was the rain. It reduced the temperature to around 20 degree C and Hoggard and Co. felt like summer at home. So if you are a cricket fan please pray for just a little bit of rain tonight. Panesar seems to be pretty good.

But then we wouldn't have the Six Nations. The healthy rivalry is what makes it such an exciting competition....

Yeh, I was kinda sick of the coverage but fair play, they deserved the victory. I hate people that rant on about it. Almost as bad as 1966

I am British by choice and not by birth and I have watched cricket for quite some time now, from 1996. And hey the Ashes this time was worth the hype. When else will you see two back to back tests, one being won by two runs and the other being drawn with one wicket in hand??

But hey Laura imagine the national unity a single team would bring. The football squad will improve a bit but the rugby team will be the best in the world by a huge margin. Although we would sadly have to do away with the Six nations it is no loss compared to people cheering for Britain and not Scotland or Wales. In football I support England but shout for the other Home nations and Ireland when they play, but it would be amazing to have a single team. Imagine Giggs and Becks tearing down the two flanks......................

no u would not have to do away with six nations because in the usa ther are ice hockey teams and guys from all different states play together on team usa. the fact that they play for different states means nothing to them.

No that would not be possible because non Brit nations Italy and France also play in six nations. And it is not possible for state teams to play international teams in a tourney. Can you have a tourney between N Dakota,Washington,Russia and Canada ? No I guess.

u could if there were some kind of rivalry. it would make sense if it was maine, massachussets, connecticut, vs newfounland, PEI and ontario or something... around here tho nobody is bright enough to do something that cool.

They could introduce a four nations barring France and Italy. But I dont thing that the same country should have so many different national teams. One Britain one team. Gives me an idea for another campaign....
