There was tennis on the red button this morning I watched a bit at about 5.45am, it looked like the first match on and it was Bopanna playing in singles against a Uganda player that didn't even have a senior ranking

I think Centre Court is the only televised court.

Well Laura, nearly missed this thread - was looking for commonwealth games yes - and despite Sky putting on about 5 extra channels for this, nope, I'm not watching.  Though I do see that the Aussies are currently top of the table with 4 golds.  Think

At the last count, England now have five golds.

Thought it was very moving that Robbie Renwick dedicated his medal to his late coach [Herald, 6 Oct] -

ROBBIE RENWICK captured Scotland’s first gold medal of the XIXth Commonwealth Games last night in Delhi, and then dedicated it to his late coach who died in April.

Eileen Adams had spent two years taking Renwick round the world as part of his swimming education, and he believed she was looking down on him last night. The pair had moved from Aberdeen, because there is no 50-metre pool there, and made their base at Tollcross, venue for the next edition of the Games. Adams took on the post of elite performance coach at City of Glasgow but died of cancer, aged 56, within a year.

“It was a memorable moment for me, standing on the podium, and I’m sure I’ll remember it for the rest of my life,” said Renwick.  “If I’d thought about Eileen up on the podium, I think I would have started bawling my eyes out. It’s definitely dedicated to her. She has been such a huge part of my life.  We were all over the world together. I went through thick and thin with her, dealing with the breast cancer, which was such a tragic thing. I know she was watching me tonight, and I can tell that she was proud."

“Glasgow is such a proud city,” said Renwick. “Scotland is such a proud nation, and there’s a storm brewing for the next four years. It’s going to be exciting to be part of that.”

Hannah Miley wins another gold medal for Scotland.  That makes two!  yay

Anyone know the results of the tennis finals - or haven't they been played yet?  I can't make much sense of the website and Ceefax has been off the air all day!

Brilliant, Tom Daley and his partner have gold in the synchronised 10 metre event and Tom goes in the individual event on Wednesday. He's a super young man as well as a brilliant diver. As his body is not yet fully grown he has been practising the most difficult dives with great care - there are four of them he can now attempt but he will feature only two in this competition as he injured his shoulder earlier in the year and needs to be careful - an injury now could affect him for ever. Good luck for tomorrow Tom - we'll be watching our Plymouth boy with great interest.
