Favourite sporting moment of 2006?

Quote

as the year comes to an end, what has been your favourite sporting moment over the past 12 months.

was it your favourite sports team winning a trophy, maybe an individual against all odds winning something, or did your country make you proud with an event?

mine was definitely scotland beating france 1-0 in the Euro 2008 qualifying match

Either Andy winning San Jose, Andy beating Federer in Cincinatti, or Scotland beating France in the 2008 qualifier. Very Happy

Definitely the whole Arsenal Champions League run. Stand out moments being Henry's goal at the Bernebeau then the final whistle at Highbury securing the unthinkable elimination of Real Madrid, Henry making it 2-0 over Juventus at Highbury and Lehmann's penalty save in the dying seconds against Villarreal. I suppose Sol Campbell's goal in the final too as one of the most beserk I've gona after a goal. Those moments are the reasons you follow a football team. They may only come every few years or even longer, but when they do come they were worth waiting for. We may not have won the final but it was still a run to remember and with a bit of luck I might get to see them team go one better at some point in the not too distant future.
Can't forget of course the memorable final day at Highbury securing the 4th CL spot over Sp*rs.

As for other sports, nothing really of any note for me at an international level (as in England sides), but the week I spent at Rod Laver Arena at the Australian Open was awesome, and then getting to Wimbledon to make it 2 grand slams in the year was memorable too. Also meeting Andy Murray right at the start of the year has to stand out.
