Nightmare group for England and it's hrd to see us getting through. It's a shame Costa Rica is the last game as it's the one we should really win. Would have been great to have that first and see Italy and Uruguay draw and so be in a great position.

But no matter how crap we are at the time, we do usually seem to find a way to scrape through the group, even when not expected to like in 2002, 2004 and 2012 for instance, then fall to the first big side. Trouble is it's 2 of the big sides in the group this time. I imagine Suarez and co will tear us apart but if we can hold Italy to a draw as in 2012 and beat Costa Rica, then maybe 4 points might be enough if Italy also lose to Uruguary or fail to beat Costa Rica. It looks a pretty decent 2nd round draw if we do make it through, regardless of whether it's first or second.

Couple of really weak groups as usual. France won't have to break sweat, and neither will Argentina or Belgium. Australia are worst off which is pleasantly satisfying!
