Not a bad game that friendly this morning, although Greece were rather ordinary oppostion.
Frank "deflection" Lampard was at it again eh? That's why he didn't score in the world cup, none of his shots were deflected. Don't think he's ever scored a goal in his whole career that wasn't deflected tbh.
It was great to see Gerrard get a more free, and attacking role, although I would still like to see Lampard dropped, as deflections aside he really is a bit average and offers nothing whatsoever, Gerrard alongside Hargreaves in the middle and Lennon out on the right. When Lennon came on, you could just see there was a spark there. Everytime he got the ball it just looked like something was going to happen. Future looks quite bright out on that right wing.
Downing was reasonably impressive too. I didn't think much of his selection, but as Mclaren is in charge now he is going to be first name on the team sheet every game. And to his credit, he looked quite good and set up 3 of the goals, so can't complain.
Heh, I've been crying out for Hargreaves to be starting in the middle for years, at last he is getting his chance and taking it. Should have made me manager after Euro 2004 tbh  Whistle
