Football Videogames...
« on: March 24, 2007, 09:36 PM »
With so many players, I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread yet! (Or at least one that I've seen.)
Currently I've been playing FIFA 07 with a view to getting my hands on a copy of Pro Evo sometime, just to compare the two. So far in FIFA I've won the MLS with the New England Revolution, Everton are tops of the table with 8 more matches to play, I'm winning the Concacaf club cup with Internacional, Cardiff City are tops of their table with 15 matches to go, and I'm currently the manager of Swindon Town who are at 13 points in the fifth or sixth week of Football League 2. I'm looking to buy as many midfielders as I can.
Anyone have any gaming accomplishments (FIFA or otherwise) that they'd like to share?

That's not bad, seeing as how they suck...
I actually started a file managing Dunfermline, but they suck so bad it was bloody impossible... In FIFA 07 you can either watch your team play and have no control over the match except substitutions or you can play it yourself. The board told me that we HAD to beat Celtic so I controlled them and barely won 4-3... And that would never happen in real life...

What are you right now? 3 spots above Dunfermline? 4? Everton are 6th of 20...

I've been playing Football Manager since the beginning, when it was called Championship Manager. Love that game. I'm normally Rangers and it's very easy to win domestic tropies and I can usually win a European trophy after a year or two. But I quite like to go a 3rd Division team like Queens park or East Stirling, and try and take them to the SPL. On the last game, I had a 30 year long career as manager of Livingston, Falkirk, Rangers, Liverpool, Scotland, Gretna and finally East Striling. Thats probably my biggest achievement in the game.

I've never started a career.
I prefer beating people I know.
I only have Fifa at home, never tried Pro Evolution, but it can't be better than Fifa.

Oh right, so now that I've heard it from someone who prefers Muse to The Smiths I will believe it?

I have Total Club Manager 2005. I went as Rangers but got bored so I've not played it for months.

I hate playing as big teams since they're so easy to win with...

I'm a FIFA man. FIFA 06 is the latest I've got.
As for manager games, I have LMA 2004 for the PS2 which I love. Used to be obsessed with it, although haven't played for ages. Did also have Total Club Manager 2004, but found it to be terrible and have rarely played it. LMA owns all for PS2 manager games.
I do have Football Manager 2005 although only had a couple of goes at it. It's good although I tend to prefer the manager games like LMA where you can actually watch the match properly etc. Putting in all the time and effort to then watch dots move around the computer screen doesn't do it for me.
