Australia play Sri Lanka in the final tomorrow. Finally bringing an end to the tournament.

It seems that we can't change the team! How unfair is that!?

We were allowed to change them before the semis-finals.

What a farce that ending was. Absolute shambles as you expect from the ICC. From an organisation point of veiw the whole tournament was a complete cock up from them. The "Calypso World Cup" with no instruments allowed into the grounds originally, ticket prices that noone could afford etc. Each ICC member was quite rightly booed at the presentation ceremony. And how long did that presentation go on? Seemed like it went on forever, must have been at least an hour surely.
Anyway well done to Australia I suppose, not tested once in the entire tournament and I suppose today's match was their smallest winning margin, along with beating us with only 2.4 overs to spare (albeit with 7 wickets in hand).

Thought we'd get to change them for the final, but hey ho!
I watched for a while when I thought that Sri Lanka were going to give Australia a game of it, but then they lost a couple of wickets, and thought it a foregone conclusion.................will have done my fantasy team good though

Another thing is that the tournament was much much too long. I read a good quote somewhere earlier, "Wars have been declared and finished in less time than this World Cup took." And when asked how this one rated in his 3 world cup wins when accepting his MoM award, Adam Gilchrist said something like "It was the never ending one I guess."
Why on Earth was there only 1 match per day? In the group stages, could they not have done at least both games from the same group on 1 day? Could they not have in fact played 2 groups on the same day at 4 different locations? Or in all the years they had to prepare for the tournament, could they not have organised floodlight installations at 1 or 2 grounds so they could have had day-night matches aswell as day matches? This would also have avoided the utter shambles that was the conclusion of the final this morning.
This tournament could have easily been completed in half the time it took IMO.
In terms of the competition, as far as I can see, there were only 4 close games that could have been considered "real matches."
Ireland - Zimbabwe (but how many people cared about that particular game anyway in terms of the tournament?) which was a tie, South Africa - Sri Lanka which was only made close by Malinga's unbelieveable heroics at the end (else it was another near non-contest), England - Sri Lanka which SL won by 2 runs on the last ball of the match, and England - West Indies which England won by 1 wicket with 1 ball to spare. Can't think of any other game in the entire tournament that was an actual contest between the 2 sides . Having only 4 proper "matches" out of 50 made it a pretty poor World Cup IMO.

Hmmm true
Apparently I just win the football ones. Maybe put more effort into them. Strangely, I don't think I ever changed my team in this once as I had players who had all made it through to the Super 8, so never bothered to trade anyone. Should have put more effort in perhaps.
But congrats Bev, well deserved.

Mine shall also remain until a better victory can go there.
However, what better victory there can be than 2 world cup competitions, I am not sure
