Bit late but for various reasons I haven't managed to find the time to put my thoughts down into words so here goes. Apologies if it's a big ramble.
Really enjoyed the games. Much more than I had even thought possible which was mainly due to the British success. Beijing was incredible and the level of British success was unheard of. I remember my Dad describing the cycling as "the most amazing thing I've ever seen." Didn't think that could be beaten. I thought on home soil we'd probably do about the same, again largely due to cycling and the other traditional strong event, rowing, but never imagined it could be eclipsed by so much. And in so many different events away from the cycling and rowing.
With regards to the cycling it was again wonderful and a great joy to behold but I do have a weird feeling that I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Beijing. And I think that's because it was so unexpected 4 years ago whereas this time I expected the British to win all of them and still feel aggrieved about what happened to Pendleton.
I barely posted during the games as given the time difference I was recording everything I wanted to see overnight (thank heavens for the ability to record multiple channels at once!). Then getting up early to get a couple of hours of it in before work, avoiding looking up any results or going on forums all day then getting home to watch it the rest of the night and if enough was fast forwarded I'd get onto some of the current evening's stuff! And the couple of times I did pop in here for a look I ended up ruining something I hadn't got to watching yet.

As I said previously that Saturday with the 6 medals (of which I managed to see all) has to go down as the greatest day in British sporting history. That 45 minutes in the athletics goes straight to the top of my list, even above Arsenal winning the league unbeaten and England winning the Ashes in Australia. Farah topping it off with the 10,000m win after Ennis and Rutherford I think was the pinnacle of my life so far as a sports fan. I can't see what could ever beat it aside from maybe Arsenal winning the Champions League.
Murray smashing Federer provided me with tears of joy for the 3rd time in my life (ridiculously Murray provided the 2nd time too with the Wimbledon semi final win!). It almost felt like Wimbledon itself. That was the big win over Federer he really needed and I now truly believe he will win that Grand Slam.
And of course there's always the other sports you only ever watch when the Olympics comes around. Watched a fair bit of equestrian and the show jumping was one of the highlights. Really exciting when it went to the jump-off and the 52 year old making his Olympic debut got us the gold with a clear round. The triathlon was pretty awesome too.
The Sports Personality show is going to be pretty awesome this year. So many heroes. How do you choose between Wiggins and Farah? Ennis would also be popular choice as would Hoy. What about a less high profile choice in Ben Ainslie after a 4th consecutive gold? What if Murray wins the US Open aswell?
My only regret is that I didn't make it there. Ever since London was announced all those years ago I said I would do but unfortunately I wasn't really in a situation where I could go.
