This is the attitude that I hate about the BBC. (note, not the ENGLISH, but the BBC!!)

 "Springboks deny England World Cup"

Not "South Africa win against England" or similar, but "England denied" as if it was their god given right to win it.

I hate the BBC's attitude towards English sport.

Fair play to South Africa. They were the best team throughout the tournament and deserved the win. Obviously gutted, but very proud of the turn-around we made from no-hopers to runners up in 4 weeks.

On the game, I felt we were the better side. Certainly in the 2nd half most of the game was played in the South African half, but we just couldn't get the points. Their defence was to strong and they didn't give away any penalties. I certainly didn't see any of this exciting, attacking, creative, running "proper rugby" that South Africa were supposed to play though, and in fact saw us make the only real running break and come closest to scoring in the corner. Was Bryan Habana even on the pitch? If he was, did he touch the ball?

We put in a good effort, but in the end it wasn't quite good enough. Certainly not going to complain about decisions, but there were a couple of tight ones that went against us. The "try" in the corner was unlucky not to have been given. It was pretty close and it appeared as though his foot was in the air, but we're talking about milimetres so I'm always going to see it the English way. The final penalty that sealed it was pretty bizarre though. But as I said, no complaints. Good game, and well done South Africa on a deserved victory.

I will say one thing though. If England had won 15-6 with 5 kicks in a try-less game, they would have been absolutely slaughtered. The "end of rugby" and a "disgrace to the game" etc are the type of comments I've been hearing here. Why will it not be the same now South Africa have done that?

On a positive note:





I have done poorly in the Premiership fantasy and prediction games, and also wasn't much good in the fantasy 6 Nations earlier this year.
But I won both the Football World Cup Fantasy and Prediction leagues last year, as well as Read The Round's first Grand Slam, and now the Rugby World Cup. So perhaps I save my best for the big ones.
