Look forward to Ashes 2007!

I think its actually not til 2008 - they seem to go on 18 month cycles to follow the summer? Good for us though....gives us a bit of time to find some people who can actually bat....

Apparently... it's not until 2009.... that gives them a lot of time to find some people who can bat Wink

Well someone who can bat under number 6 would be good for a start. As I said before, Anderson, Mahmood and Panesar must be coached extensively so that by 2009 they can be capable of staying around and hitting 25 at the end of the innings. You can't expect to beat anybody with a lineup stopping at number 6 when you are batting.
Not expecting too much from the ODI series. Can't see us winning a match. But I'm going to the 2 Adelaide matches - Eng vs Aus and Eng vs NZ so I'm hopeful we can at least put up a reasonable showing in 1 of them, perhaps even sneak a win against NZ. I bet the guys who are not in the ODI side are pleased to be going home now. The ones who are staying on probably wish they were going home!

There are a few prospects. I heard Jason Gillespie talking about some young English leg spinner who he thought should have been selected, called Adil Rashid. Anyone seen much of him? I looked him up on cricinfo, he's only 18 but at the time (start of the series), he had only played 5 first class matches, yet had taken an astonishing 25 wickets! And had a top score of 60+. On his England under 19 debut he scored 114 and took 8 wickets, and he's going to be batting at 6 for his county side next season. Hopefully he keeps going at this rate, then he should be a chance to be in our number 6/7 role in the 2009 Ashes.

England 147 all out. A lead of 45 runs

If it was a boxing match the ref would have stopped it a long time a go.

You wouldn't have needed a ref!  The white towel would have been thrown in!

I didn't see any of it today - I heard the score on the radio at work this morning when we were down to one wicket left - was nearly enough to make me throw myself under a zimmer frame! doctor

Absolutely shocking display by the England Team!  Hindsight is a wonderful thing but why didn't someone see the writing on the wall after the first series search

Enjoy your matches in Oz Alex - have to watch out for those Black Caps though (NZ side) - they are very good in the ODI's - they aren't playing too badly against Sri Lanka at the moment - won one of their matches with the last ball of the game (but you probably know that anyway Rolling Eyes )

Think  I think that I had at least 3 matches with at least one player not scoring coz he'd not been selected by the English Coach no
