This year Becks was just a waste of a captain.
Hardly matters, he won us three matches in the Cup. Hopefully Gerarrd will be his replacement.

to be honest beckham wasnt that bad, players respect him which makes him a good captain. I blame sven for not having the balls to drop lampard after he did nothing the whole tournament except have more shots than anyone else in the whole competition and not score, even from 12 yards. Well done fat boy frankie lampard =D>

Was just about to say that - and agree 101%. ( ) Can't wait to see Gerarrd with the band.

its a fact that lampard was terrible, if any normal person made that many mistakes in their jobs they would be fired, so fire lampard.

The whole team underperformes, not just Lampard.
And it should go to John Terry in my opinion.

john terry all the way !!! he is a great player , he motivates the team , he always shouts at the team to get them going , and he already gives the talks in the dressing room ..... has to be terry . i think gerrard is to young at the moment and him and lampard werent up 2 much this world cup, lennon played amaizng in allt he matches when he came on for beckham , ashley cole was also amazing as was hargreves. i new we would miss those penalties but well done to robinson he is a great goalie and im glad we have him not david james

what about Rio, he played better than Terry. Then England would have Captain Cool

I thought Robinson wasn't that great. He was lucky yesterday because couple of the balls went into the metal poles or missed. He didn't even dive into the correct direction to save the penalties. Or maybe that was just in comparison to Ricardo >

robinson had a poor world cup, still the best we have though. Plays a lot better for spurs though

Well Becks had to go or else he would have been shoved! John Terry or Stevie Gerrard for captain? Tough choice. Don't think that either have had a particularly good world cup. Both are good captains for their respective clubs. Glad it's not my choice!
