Disappointing we couldn't add to the medals though. Obviously it seems unfair to expect us to compete with countries like Switzerland, Austria, Norway etc on the mountains given their respective climates/terrain so I understand we're not particularly good at those events. But when Australia are winning gold medals in both snowboarding and skiing, that really annoys me. Absolutely no reason we could not be competing for those medals if bloody Australia are!

And something like speed skating, I don't see why we can't be as good as say the Dutch and the Koreans at that. Should be fairly simple to have reasonable facilities for it shouldn't it? You don't need any particularly climate or terrain for it like skiing surely.

Yes, but bear in mind in the summer Olympics we don't win medals in every event that we have facilities for. Plus, it's a lot more difficult to get people interested in winter sports in this country...

Yeah, but same in Australia where noone has even heard of snow, let alone seen it. The point was that while we shouldn't be expected to compete with the likes of Swtizerland at skiing and snowboarding, I refuse to believe we shouldn't be as good as Australia at it. I just feel we should be a little bit more competitive than we are.

Anyway I've really enjoyed these games. Something completely different that I never get to see aside from these 2 weeks every 4 years.

I was there for six days and it was the best experience of my life (sporting events wise I mean). Loved it!!!
