Even though we've started terribly, I still think theres a good chance we will finish 2nd. Realistically Norway are our biggest threats for 2nd, and they were woeful yesterday. We were missing some key players, and didnt play TOO badly. Just didnt finish any of our chances.

On Wednesday, we could still be in 2nd place and 5 points off 1st, if results go our way, if they dont we'll be 4th. But only 2 points off 1st place

Well, on Wed, we could be looking at Iceland and Norway disappearing from the challenge completely. You have to assume Macedonia, if they win, will lose more than they win after wednesday..... hmmm, not sure what results I actually want to see!

Bottom line - Scotland have to start winning.

Yeah either way, I still think we can play better. And get better results. Forget about Holland, beat the rest. Although I reckon we can take points off Holland!

We were piss poor IMO, predictable, blunt - any well marshaled defence will keep us at bay.

Players already seem to have lost faith in Burley too. By the way, if we finish in second, are we in the play-offs? Seems a bit unfair on the other groups as we only have 5 in our group.

Yeah I think we are in the play-offs. Best 2nd place team is automatically through though I think.....

The way it works is that the best 8 second-place finishers play-off (i.e. only the worst second-place finisher does not make the play-offs) for the 4 remaining places allocated to UEFA (who have a total of 13 places - the first 9 go to the group winners). For purposes of comparison between the groups, results against the bottom team are removed from all groups with 6 teams.

Looks like Capello could finally be the man who could take England deep in a major tournament - seems his professional approach is rubbing off on the players. Smile
