England just miss out on having both the tallest and shortest players at the world cup. Lennon is the shortest, but there's a Serbian 1cm taller then Crouch!

And we have the oldest player, in David James...

I remember a game sometime in the last few years when Crouch and Lennon both came on as subs at the same time. Was absolutely hilarious seeing them standing next to each other on the sideline. roflmao

What's going on with so many big name key players getting injured? So many stars are out now. Beckham, Ballack, Essien, Mikel, Ferdinand, Drogba is probably out now, Pirlo's in serious doubt, Robben going for a scan tomorrow.....

If Walcott was chosen, would he have been close to being the youngest player ?

Is that Zigic, the one who has just signed for Birmingham?

Yeah has to be Zigic. Walcott is 21, there surely has to be someone younger out of the 32 squads.

Yes, it's Zigic.

There are plenty younger then Walcott. In fact, there are 7 teenagers in South Africa, including Chris Wood from West Brom (New Zealand). The youngest is Christian Eriksen of Denmark (Ajax), who's one of five 18 year olds.

England have the second highest average age of players in the squad, only just behind Brazil. Spain have the 6th lowest.

England, Germany and Italy have all 23 squad members playing locally, while Spain have 20.
Australia, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast have only 1 each.

The English league(s) have by far the most players in South Africa (118), followed by Germany. Scotland have 10, only behind Russia and Turkey for countries which didn't qualify for the world cup.

Barcelona and Chelsea have the most players represented, with 13 each.

All this is according to the official squads entered, before withdrawals and replacements.

I don't mind England doing well to be honest.

Too many of us hairy haggis munchers have chips on our shoulders.
Agreed.  Half of my extended family are English, and we have all sorts of good natured banter.  That was sort of my point, when I posted the 'Anyone but England' comment.  Tongue in cheek stuff that seemed to escape many when Andy said it.

Apparently some crowd control trouble at Nigeria-South Korea. Doesn't bode well for the tournament...

Got a question.  In the ads, what is it the crowd are chanting ..... "ta ta"?  "cha cha"? ... and is there any significance/meaning to this?
