Can you imagine if it was Scotland in the draw not England, the amount of grief! GO ENGLAND!!!!!
Usually watch the football with the Spanish folks in the flat downstairs so.... anyone but Spain
One of my best friends is Spanish, this Summer is gonna be a nightmare...
Here is my 23 I'd take...
Green (number 1)
James
Foster
Terry
Lescott
A Cole
Cahill
Johnson
Ferdinand
Bridge
Upson
Gerrard
Lampard
Barry
Carrick
Beckham
J Cole
Lennon
A Young
Rooney
Heskey (truly ******* useless but Capello likes him and Rooney likes playing with him)
Crouch
Defoe

We're solid in defence and midfield so I'm pretty confident we won't get hammered by anyone. But we just don't have anywhere near the quality in goal or up front to go all the way.
Like with Arsenal really, the goalkeepers are not good enough for the side to mount a real challenge at winning the thing. Similarly up front - Rooney can't do it all alone.
As for my squad:
Goalkeepers:
James (number 1 purely on experience)
Green
Robinson (prone to gaffs but he goes over Foster for me due to experience at this level and regular game time. If the worst comes to the worst and we're throwing our 3rd keeper into a quarter final against Argentina for instance, I don't want a guy who occasionally plays a domestic cup game anywhere near the side. Beats the likes of Kirkland and Hart purely on quality)
Clearly this is our weakest area despite being one which we've traditionally been exceptionally strong in.
Defenders:
Johnson
Terry
Ferdinand
A Hole
Lescott
Bridge
Upson
Jagielka
Defence pretty much picks itself with I feel 1 final place (who won't see game time anyway) up for grabs for the likes of Jagielka, Richards and Cahill. Jagielka for me, but if Richards finds his form he may well find himself on the plane due to his ability to play right back.
Midfield:
Gerrard
Lampard
Barry
Beckham
Carrick
J Cole
Lennon
Walcott
Again pretty much picks itself with the final place up for grabs for Walcott, Wright-Phillips, Young, Milner and Downing. If he finds form and fitness this season, Walcott offers the most for me (and no, not just Arsenal bias). Doesn't look like happening at the moment though so it's in SWP's hands at present I think.
Strikers:
Rooney
Defoe
Crouch
Owen
Assuming Owen remains fit, he has to go over Heskey. I strongly disapprove of non-scoring centre forwards and if it comes to a quarter final penalty shootout, Owen is someone I want on the pitch. Can't see Capello picking Owen though so there's a place up for grabs for Heskey, Agbonlahor, Bent or perhaps even Walcott here if he has a more central run for Arsenal with all our strikers currently out.
As for a starting 11, assuming all are fit and in form mine would be:
James
Johnson Terry Ferdinand A Hole
Barry
Walcott Lampard
Gerrard
Rooney Defoe

Walcott ahead of Lennon? Pfft, I think your Arsenal tinted spectacles are being worn there.

In form and fully fit Walcott > in form and fully fit Lennon any day. Unfortunately Walcott hasn't been fully fit or in form pretty much since the hattrick in Croatia. That day I feel showed what he is capable of at the top level.
Can't help a little bias though, it's only natural. Just praying he can get himself fit and in form enough to make the trip.

I will be supporting Deutschland.
Nothing to do with any anti-English sentiment, more to do with were I live.

Well I could support NZ, since they actually qualified, but don't think that they have a hope in hell

Desperate? Like I said, I know nothing of football. I'm texting this lad and we was chatting about football and he was explaining in Davis Cup terms for me and made it so much easier hehe
