France had to play Ireland in the play off stage - they didn't qualify automatically - and it was the hand of Henry that got them through
I don't understand the off-side rule but I like to watch a good match.

I'm confident that there will be 2 teams in the final and it will be a game of 2 halves

Truly INCREDIBLE lack of Scots in this thread, funny that...
For your entertainment, here is my final 23, and also I don't care if Heskey and Rooney work well together, as if I was Capello, Heskey would be nowhere near the national squad....
Green, Hart, James
Terry, Rio, Upson, A Cole, G Johnson, Lescott, Baines, Woodgate
Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Carrick, Lennon, Milner, Young, A Johnson
Rooney, Crouch, Defoe, Agbonlahor
Also, to clarify, I hate Walcott with a passion. I am a Reading fan so little bias can be shown against any players/teams here.

I can't see past Spain, their squad pisses all over England's.
Midfield four to choose out of Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Senna, Mata, Silva, Busquets.
Jizz in my pants.

England won't do anything special. Nasty second round draw, whoever the opponent, so they would be knackered by that if they were to get to the QFs.
The media will build up the expectation once the domestic season is over and what is a fairly ordinary squad will be talked of as world-beaters.
Another QF defeat on penalties, probably.

SFs for England, if Rooney takes his form to South Africa.

I'm not convinced Rooney will even be fit, he's been carrying various injuries constantly for the last month or so.

I'm talking about the way he has been playing that has put him onto the same pedestal as Lionel Messi.
Yes, he's injured, and that's why I questioned whether he can take his form to the WC.

They even have Arteta if they get injured haha. Bojan Krkic for them will be amazing in a few years, same with his Barcelona teammate Pedro.
