Holy sheet, didn't even see this - presumed it would have been propped up nearer the time so didn't realise it existed.
Oh well, will need to be merged by the moderators.

I don't really want to make a prediction, especially since the favourites are fairly obvious, and I can't argue with them being the favourites!
There's basically Spain and Brazil, and then a few other European sides plus Argentina, below that.

What about a crazy outside prediction?
I'll be interested to see how Uruguay and Serbia do, I think they'll progress from their group and maybe shock a big team.

I don't know much about Uruguay, but I think Serbia could be a good shout. I don't have much hope for any African nation, and I think Australia are worse then they were last time round.
I don't think there'll be any major suprises, and most likely, any moderate suprise will likely come from the second-tier European teams - like Serbia, for example.

Uruguay will have Cavani and Forlan up front, a modest front two pairing!

Actually, scrap that. Looking again, can't see any second-tier European nation besides Serbia doing anything!

I also think Chile should be interesting to watch, as they were fantastic in qualifying.

well there's always a suprise package at these tournaments, brazil didn't even make it past the quarters at the last world cup, in fact the last 4 were european, italy are always well organised and seem to grind out results when it matters and should never be counted out, personally i can see an african team doing well such as the ivory coast or ghana, they will be well used to the heat and that will be an advantage to them! I'm looking forward to it and seen as i'm north of the border and support rangers i guess i'll just have to put on my Algeria shirt!

Or your USA shirt - Edu and Beasley both in the squad.

no essien is out injured, african teams play well as a team and i don't think they are a one man outfit! they will definetly benefit from home advantage! essien is a great player and will be missed, but i don't think the world cup will be all about spain and brazil!
