BBC SPORTS PERSONALITY ODDS
2/1 Andy Murray
3/1 Zara Phillips
7/2 Monty Panesar
8/1 Steven Gerrard
10/1 David Walliams

Why gerrard is on there i do not know. Ridiculous. Also, as much as andy has done very well, he's not at the top of his game yet, if people look at that, then surely he's gonna win it again and again?! So he shouldn't get it now, til he wins a grandslam at least i think. The rest are ok i guess.

True, although who else would you include above Andy? He if one of the few British sportspeople who has actually won something this year so can't really argue with it. It's been a terrible year for British sport overall.
As for Steven Gerrard, well I suppose he didn single handedly win an FA Cup final, and penalty aside, I suppose he had a reasonable world cup. I wouldn't vote for him though. You can't give sportsperson of the year to someone who missed a penalty in the World Cup quarter final FFS.

Similarly with Monty Panesar? Ok, he took a few wickets in a test series, but sports person of the year? Give it to him next year if he wins us the Ashes, not just for having 1 good test series.
Have to display some ignorance again, who's David Walliams? Not the Little Britain guy for swimming the Channel is it?

Really has been an awful year for British sport. No Freddie Flintoffs or Jonny Wilkinsons this year by a long shot.
A good Ryder Cup for Colin Monty might see him force his way in there somewhere. He would have already had the award wrapped up had he parred the last hole at the US Open.

Once again, I'm afraid I have to say 'who?'
Blame it on living in NZ.

She's an 800m/1500m runner who's made huge leaps forward in her form this year...really very impressive. Got a bronze at the europeans. Being touted as the next Kelly Holmes.

Becky Lyne

There's quite a lot of up and coming athletes in GB at the moment - Mo Farah (5000m -silver europeans), Rhys Williams (400m hurdles - bronze europeans - son of the legendary JJ Williams), Martin Rooney (100m/200m), Greg Rutherford (long jump - silver europeans)...

So do I. That's great to know we have a few coming through. Few of em should be coming towards their prime for London 2012 then.
